It’s really great to see how  ambition and dedication can lead us to realise our dreams, especially when they seem almost unrealisable. This is the case of “Blue Ruin”, which started from the fundraising platform Kickstarter, to land on the international big screens. Produced with just about $38.000 (other than the personal savings of the filmmakers), Blue Ruin is a very well made contemporary western impregnated by a strong need for revenge, where violence is portrayed in a highly brutal and graphic scale, but not glorified. The story is enriched by elements of originality that delineate the shape of a “first time killer”. Director Jeremy Saulnier did a very good job maintaining a constant tension throughout the film, however helped by a perfectly fitted soundtrack.
